For active and potential supporters: I just opened a new crowdfunding 'branch office' on SubscribeStar.
Patreon is nice but, given their volatile interpretation of their own content policy, I am beginning to see me pre-emptively self-censor my creative work. And that can't be the way.

Good to know. Yes, getting the audience to your payment platform of choice is the big thing - Patreon's really been promoting themselves well in that regard. I only learned of SubscribeStar after a couple artists I followed via Patreon apparently had their content banned, and had to moved. Similarly adult material on the one, but just political on the other (Tim Pool). I still can't feel all too negative about Patreon though, their newsletters are always bright and motivating, most artists have their home there, it's hard to be dissuaded without direct personal negative experience...
Was thinking maybe SubscribeStar had some limits on post amounts/space? I'm still surprised they actually don't have any limitations on Patreon, considering they allow all media forms, encourage users to post often; don't have any free/premium distinction of creator privileges. Bandwidth ain't cheap... guess provisions must be bringing in more funding than I imagine.

Been hearing good things about SubscribeStar too, though Patron's still so much more of a norm. It feels a bit like signing up for a NG account rather than a YT one. If you get local fans it'll be even better, but the potential to reach the same audience seems smaller.
Do they offer the same things Patreon do otherwise? Unlimited everything? No extra costs?

SubStar conditions are similar to Patreon. Transaction fees are structured differently I hear, but essentially similar.
Neither Patreon nor SubscribeStar will help you to "reach an audience", so that doesn't really matter IMHO, only they might be weary to sign up to yet another platform..
